Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has issued a heartfelt condolence message following the sudden death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju.
The veteran athlete passed away after competing in an eight-round international light-heavyweight bout against Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The statement expressed deep sadness and extended sympathies to Gabriel’s family, friends, the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBC), and the global boxing community.
While awaiting an official medical report on the cause of death, the Ministry pledged full cooperation with the Ghana Boxing Authority to investigate the incident and enhance athlete safety measures.
The Minister concluded by wishing peace for Gabriel’s soul and calling for unity in supporting those affected by the tragedy.
