Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu no longer holds the world’s fastest 100 Metres time in the men’s category after American sprinter Trayvon Bromell delivered an outstanding performance to beat Saminu’s mark of 9.86 seconds.

Bromell run a very impressive time of 9.84 seconds to win the Rome leg of the Diamond League circuit in the men’s 100 metres. Saminu’s mark set a new national record smashing Benjamin Azamati’s mark of 9.90 seconds. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

In the process, Bromell beat the hitherto time held by Saminu and fellow American Kenny Bednarek who tied Saminu’s mark of 9.86 seconds via a win at the Grand Slam Track held in Philadelphia.

Bromell flew past a very strong field to win the race and etch his name in the books as the world’s fastest man this year ahead of the World Athletics Championship in September in Tokyo, Japan.

Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme and Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala finished in second and third respectively with times of 9.99 seconds and 10.01 seconds.
