Black Queens deputy captain Jennifer Cudjoe says Ghana’s return to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is more than just qualification, but it’s a statement of intent.
The Black Queens are set to make a long-awaited return to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after missing the last two editions in 2020 and 2022.
With preparations underway, deputy captain Jennifer Cudjoe says the team is excited to be back on the big stage and determined to make it count.
“Missing out on WAFCON for a couple of years was tough, but returning now brings us great joy,” she said. “This edition will be a different kind of challenge.”
Despite the tough group they face which includes defending champions South Africa ,Cudjoe believes the players are ready for the battle ahead and as tough as the challenges may be, we plan to enjoy every moment of it.

She also acknowledged the quality of their opponents adding that it will be a great challenge
South Africa is one of the strongest teams in Africa. They’ve been consistent, just like other top teams, so it will be a great game to face them. It’s great to see the Black Queens return. It’s on us now to give our best and remind everyone that Ghana is back and here to stay”.

Ghana last featured in the continental showpiece in 2018, when they hosted the tournament but failed to progress from the group stage.
