Paris Saint-Germain sealed their place in the FIFA Club World Cup knockout stages with a 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders, topping Group B in the process.
The European champions will now face the runners-up of Group A; either Palmeiras or Inter Miami in Sunday’s quarter-final clash in Atlanta (17:00 BST).
PSG’s opener came with a stroke of luck. Vitinha’s first-time strike from 20 yards was heading off target before deflecting off Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s back and wrong-footing goalkeeper Stefan Frei.

The second goal came on the counter, with Bradley Barcola surging forward and squaring for Achraf Hakimi, who rifled home to double the advantage.
Despite not hitting top gear, PSG controlled much of the contest and fully deserved the win. Youngster Désiré Doué was particularly lively, forcing three solid saves from Frei.
The hosts’ best chance came when Gianluigi Donnarumma misplaced a pass straight to Jesus Ferreira, but the striker shot over from a difficult angle.

Vitinha stood out once again in midfield, completing 107 of his 113 passes and playing a crucial; albeit accidental part in the opening goal.
The Portuguese star is now aiming to cap off an extraordinary few weeks with a third major trophy, having already lifted both the Champions League and UEFA Nations League.

Next up, PSG meet either Inter Miami; setting up a potential reunion with former star Lionel Messi or Brazilian side Palmeiras in the last eight. Seattle Sounders, meanwhile, return to MLS action the same day against Austin FC.
