Bankroller of AK Promotions, Amir Khan, has commended Sharaf Mahama for being very helpful in organizing the high profile Battle of the Beasts Boxing Event recently held at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The event held on Friday, June 14, was co-organized by Khan’s AK Promotions and Sharaf Mahama’s Legacy Rise Sports and had former British heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua headline the impressive list of guests to attend the event.
Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, Boxing legend Azumah Nelson, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku were also in attendance.
Speaking to British media outlet Talk Sport, former British welterweight champion Amir Khan, praised Sharaf Mahama for his role in bringing the event to Ghana.
“If you look at other promoters like Eddie [Hearn], Frank [Warren], they will never think about coming to Ghana… no one looks at Ghana so we decided, why don’t we come to Ghana? The President’s [of Ghana John Dramani Mahama] sons, Sharaf and Shahid, have been so helpful. When I met them, they said let’s do a show here together and obviously, we pushed it” Khan said.
