Kumasi Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Fredrick Asare is certain that transitioning from former head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum to interim head coach Abdul Karim Zito, wasn’t difficult for the team.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after Kotoko beat Golden Kick 2-1 to win the 2025 MTN FA Cup at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Asare, who stated that Kotoko didn’t underrate Golden Kick heading to the game, believes that adapting to coach Zito’s style late in the season difficult after Dr. Ogum was sacked with just two months to the end of the season that had Kotoko finish third in the Ghana Premier League.
“I think with them they have almost the same style of play so the transition wasn’t that much difficult we had to adapt to their style of play which was very similar so we didn’t find it that much difficult because we were willing to do something for ourselves also.”

By winning the FA Cup, Kotoko have qualified to represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup. Scroll down to watch video.
