President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, says it is his wish for Anthony Joshua to become an ambassador for boxing in Africa.

He voiced this wish when the former multiple belt holder British heavyweight boxer paid a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams, boxing legend Azumah Nelson and CEO of Legacy Rise Sports, Sharaf Mahama were among the top dignitaries present at the event.

Joshua touched down in Ghana on Friday, June 13 and headlined Legacy Rise’s “Battle of the Beasts” Boxing Night that was co-produced by former British welterweight champion Amir Khan and in the meeting, Joshua confessed that he can’t wait to tell the world how amazing Ghana is. President John Mahama

“I told him-Anthony Joshua- he will be our ambassador. It needs people like him to help to change the lives of young people and so we wish him to be an ambassador for boxing in Africa and take that as one of the courses that he champions that after him there will be a wave of boxers…who would also make Africa proud and change the societies from which they come from. You are an icon very much loved in Ghana” President Mahama said.
