CEO of Hasaacas Ladies Football Club, Evelyn Nsiah Asare Owusu, believes that Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, have corrected mistakes they made in the early phase of the team’s campaign in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
She made these comments in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after the Black Queens thrashed Tanzania 4-1 to progress to the quarterfinals of the competition.
Ghana is scheduled to play against Algeria in the quarterfinals on Saturday, July 19 at 16:00 GMT; this is the Black Queens’ first quarterfinal appearance at the AFCON since 2016 and Evelyn Nsiah Owusu is bullish about Ghana’s chances of winning the game after correcting mistakes made earlier in the tournament.
“They-the girls- are good but I think they have to take their time. Our first and second game, it’s not that we didn’t do well but we were in a hurry to score and when you are in a hurry to score, you make so many mistakes but I think that they have corrected their mistakes.”

Ghana lost 2-0 to South Africa and drew 1-1 with Mali before beating Tanzania in the group phase; Should Ghana beat Algeria, the Black Queens will meet either Morocco or Mali in the semifinals.
