Black Queens midfielder Alice Kusi says she is happy that Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team didn’t go home empty handed following the conclusion of its campaign in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
Ghana finished third in the tournament to clinch the bronze medal after beating South Africa 4-3 on penalties; the game at the end of regulation time ended 1-1.
The Black Queens last won a medal at the continental championship in 2016 and marked its best campaign in the competition in nine years with a third place finish and Woman of the Match Award winner Kusi shared how happy she was to leave the tournament with a medal.
“I’m happy we didn’t go home empty handed. We couldn’t make it to the final but we were able to go home with this [bronze medal] so I’m really excited for being the Woman of the Match and congratulations once again to the entire team” she said.
