Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Abdul Karim Zito has stated that losses in recent President’s Cup games will serve as motivation for the club to win this year’s edition.
The 2025 President’s Cup takes place on Sunday, July 6 at the Accra Sports Stadium with Kotoko taking on archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
Kotoko have lost to Hearts and Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas in recent President’s Cup editions and in an interview with Kotoko media, Karim Zito believes that the losses will motivate his team to clinch this year’s Cup.
“It’s always a tough game when you are playing Heats of Oak and the expectation is very high with both supporters so we are preparing towards it. We will use it [losses in previous President’s Cup] to motivate ourselves to go for the cup” Karim Zito said.
In the lead up to the game, Kotoko have been busy signing a slew of players including former Bechem United goalkeeper Haruna Dari, former Berekum Chelsea defender Zackaria Fuseini and former Legon Cities full back Joseph Amoah.
Kotoko will represent Ghana in the 2025-2026 CAF Confederation Cup.
