Head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has indicated that he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon if his words are anything to go by.
After Ghana’s semifinal loss to Morocco, rumours of Bjorkegren’s impending departure have been rife after leading the Black Queens past the AFCON group stage for the first time since 2016.
Reacting to Ghana’s 4-3 win over South Africa on penalties to win the bronze medal at the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco, the Swede trainer talked extensively about the future of the team stating,
“It’s huge; It’s going in the right direction. We are going to look at the local market, some of the young players. In this tournament, I think we had 20 of 24 players who played in their first AFCON…we need to give them time. I’m really excited for the future and I have got to keep working hard with the coaching team” he said.

Clinching the bronze medal in this year’s AFCON represents Ghana’s best performance at the AFCON since 2016 that also ended with a bronze medal win for the Black Queens.
