Head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, believes that South Africa’s efficiency inside the penalty box was the reason his team lost to the defending champions of the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON.

Bjorkegren made this known in a post-game interview after Ghana lost 2-0 to the 2022 Women’s AFCON with Ghana conceding both goals in the first half.

In a post-game interview, Bjorkegren was pleased with the overall performance of his squad despite the loss and pointed to South Africa’s better production inside the penalty box as the difference between the two nations. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“If you are looking at stats, it was a close game and we were actually better sometimes. They [South Africa] were a bit cleaner inside the box and we know that they have a couple of good players for sure so good for them” Bjorkegren said.
