Kwahuhene Daasebere Akuamoah Boateng III has launched an insurance policy for all supporters of Okwawu United.
The insurance policy, which is arguably the first of its kind in the history of club football in Ghana, is said to cater for all registered members of the fan base in the case of any eventualities at match centres or when they travel with the team.
Last year, a local sports journalist in Nkawkaw and a supporter of Okwawu United who travelled to watch and support the team at an away game, unfortunately, lost their lives during an accident on the Accra Kumasi Highway, a sad situation which has left their family members heartbroken.
According to Daasebere Akuamoah Boateng III, this move, which is intended to boost the morale of the supporters, will also go a long way to encourage the team to give out its best as it has been doing in the last three seasons, securing second and third spots in the Access Bank Division One League- Zone-Three.

Addressing a gathering of stakeholders and supporters of Okwawu United during the first-ever supporters congress held in Mpraeso in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region, Kwahuhene Daasebere Akuamoah Boateng III, who called on all well-meaning indigenous people of Kwahu to support Okwawu United, stressed that this initiative will provide a beacon of hope that, with a slight push, promotion to the top-tier league is within reach of the team.

Our beloved club was relegated 19 years ago, and as we approach the 20th anniversary of that painful exit in 2006, we must unite to ensure its return to the top-flight league. Football is now a business, and we need money to make Okwahu United great again. I appeal to all natives of Kwahu and stakeholders alike to help raise an additional GHC1 million to strengthen the squad and improve operations ahead of the new strategic plan to bring us back to glory.
On his part, the General Manager of Okwawu United, Nana Kwame Dankwa, who lauded the initiative by Kwahuhene, indicated that this is a step in the right direction for the fan base.
I don’t have any information about a club in Ghana with an insurance package for it’s supporters so we thank Daasebere Akuamoah Boateng III for his concern and love for Okwawu United that he has extended this goodness to the supporters base.
The supporters are the back bone of the team and they have been doing so much for the team traveling and following the team anywhere we go even for friendly matches.
Sometimes they even get accidents and I remember not too long ago a journalist and a supporter lost their lives during an accident when they were returning to Nkawkaw after the team traveling for a game so this insurance package can do a lot of good to our supporters in the case of any eventualities.
