2025 World Athletics Championships Prize Money List Announced

The prize money list for this year’s World Athletics Championships has been announced as athletes gear up to compete in the event in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2025 World Athletics Championships will run from September 13 to September 21 in the city that hosted the 2024 Olympic Games.

Eight athletes from Ghana have qualified to compete in the Championships with the contingent led by Ghana’s Men’s 100 Metre record holder Abdul-Rasheed Saminu and Ghana’s Women’s High Jump record holder Rose Amoaniwaa Yeboah. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Gold medal winners in the upcoming event will win $70, 000 in prize money with silver and bronze medal winners set to earn $35,000 and $22,000 respectively.

Athletes who end up setting world records at the competition will be handed $100,000 in bonus; the amount stays same in the relay events.

However, winning gold in the relay events comes with an $80,000 financial incentive while silver and bronze medal winners will earn $40,000 and $20,000 respectively.
