Rose Yeboah has made history after becoming the first Ghanaian to qualify to the final of the high jump event at the World Athletics Championships.

The 23 year old secured her spot in the final of the Women’s High jump event at the ongoing Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

The former Kumasi Girls High School student cleared a height of 1.92 metres to finish among the top 16 athletes to make it to the final.

Olympic champion and world holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine leads the list of finalists who will compete for places on the podium.

Speaking after making the finals, Yeboah was excited about her qualification while reflecting on what has been a challenging phase since disappointing at the 2024 Olympics.

“I feel so good. I needed this…my coach was like Rose this 1.92 if you are able to clear it [in your] first attempt, you are going to make the final and here I am. I’m so so glad, I’m happy” she said to Sporty FM.
