Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams is hoping for Ghana to finish on the podium at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Ghana heads into the final day of the competition in contention for two medals; one in the Women’s High Jump and another in the Men’s 4×100 Metre Relay.
Rose Yeboah will represent Ghana in the final of the High Jump that commences at 10:30 GMT on Sunday, September 21 while Ghana’s 4×100 Metre Men’s Relay Team will compete in the final competition of the Championships at 12:20 GMT on Sunday, September 21.

“For a very long time, Ghana has not seated at the table of honours in terms of medals, we are hoping that these World Athletics [Championships] in Tokyo, Ghana should be able to at least mount the podium.”

“We hope that our quartet will improve their baton change and would run even faster and that should put us in a good position to have a medal in the 4×100” he said.

Ghana’s quartet of Benjamin Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini, Joseph Paul Amoah and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu run a time of 37.79 seconds to finish first in the semifinals. The time set a new national record for Ghana and is the second fastest time in African history.
