Member of Parliament for the Old Tafo Constituency, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has described the Ghana Premier League as one of the most unattractive on the African continent.

The Bill was passed after coming to the end of the Consideration Stage by the house before being voted on and subsequently passed.
Speaking on the need for sourcing funds for sports, Vincent Assafuah, who doubles as the Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, admonished the unattractiveness of Ghana’s elite club football competition.

“It is clear that in our country as we speak, when it comes to resources that are supposed to be used to fund our sporting activities…we have a huge challenge. Let me bring your mind to even the Ghana Premier League as we speak, it is one of the most unattractive sporting activities even in Africa.”

“The growing unattractiveness is because of lack of funding. Funding that is supposed to be available to be able to boost morale in terms of the Ghana Premier League is unavailable. It is on that basis that we believe that we need to pass this Sports Fund urgently” Vincent Assafuah said.

Aduana Stars lead the Ghana Premier League standings ahead of this weekend’s round of games.
