President of Basketball Operations of NBA outfit the Los Angeles Clippers, Lawrence Frank, has announced that the team has parted ways with point guard Chris Paul.
The announcement comes after veteran guard Paul stated on social media that he had been released by the team and was on his way to Los Angeles from Atlanta where the Clippers are scheduled to play against the Hawks on Thursday, December 4 at 12:30 AM.
Paul played for the Golden State Warriors last season and returned to the team he starred for in the early 2010’s where he formed a dynamic partnership with athletic players Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan who finished off Paul’s passes with thunderous dunks. The brilliant athletic plays had the Clippers nicknamed Lob City.
However, after playing limited minutes in the Clippers poor start to the 2025-2026 season, Paul has been released with the team’s President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank stating according to ESPN,

“We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team. We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear.”

“No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”

In his 21st season in the NBA, Paul played 16 games and averaged 2.9 points and 3.3 assists in 14.3 minutes for the Clippers who have just five wins in 21 games. Paul planned to retire after this season.
