Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has admitted his side were “tactically indecisive” following their surprise 1-0 defeat to Hohoe United in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors were undone by a first-half free-kick as the 2025 GPL debutants snatched all three points, piling pressure on Kotoko after another frustrating performance.
Kotoko’s recent form has been worrying, with just one win in their last five matches – a 2-1 victory over Young Apostles on November 19 alongside two losses and two draws.
Speaking after the match, Zito did not hide his disappointment.
“I’m disappointed in our first-half performance. I wasn’t happy at all. They had a good free kick and it resulted in a goal. There’s nothing wrong with the free kick, but we didn’t play well,” he said.
The Kotoko coach also questioned his players’ mentality and decision-making.
To be honest, we were tactically indecisive. We create chances all the time but we don’t score. Most of our training lately has been about goal scoring. Why do we wait until we concede before we start playing?\

Zito ended by apologising to the club’s supporters and promised improvements.
“I’m very sorry. I want to apologise to the supporters. We’ll go back to the drawing board and make the necessary amendments.”
The defeat leaves Kotoko under pressure as their inconsistency continues in the title race.
