The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely banned Division One League sides PAC Academy and Port City Football Club from using their approved home venues, with immediate effect, following violent incidents at their respective matches over the weekend.
The decision comes after disturbances were reported during PAC Academy’s clash with FC Ashgold 04 and Port City FC’s fixture against True Democracy. Based on preliminary information available, the Executive Council moved swiftly to prevent a recurrence of the incidents.
As a result, the GFA’s Competitions Department will now designate neutral venues for the clubs’ upcoming home matches, taking into account the distance to be travelled by away teams.

In invoking Article 14(2) of the Division One League Regulations, the Executive Council exercised its authority to close venues where the safety of players, match officials, and spectators cannot be guaranteed. The regulation states that ;
“the GFA may order the closure of any league centre/venue where the safety of clubs, match officials and/or spectators cannot be guaranteed.”
The Association has also begun a full investigation into the incidents, working in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and other relevant stakeholders to establish a comprehensive and accurate account of events.

The GFA strongly condemned all forms of violence in Ghana football and called on club owners, officials, supporters, and stakeholders to uphold the principles of fair play and sportsmanship.
The Association further expressed sympathy to individuals affected by the disturbances and assured the football public that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness, with appropriate sanctions to follow where necessary.
