Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has announced a cash support package of ₵80,000 for each Regional Football Association (RFA) ahead of the commencement of the FIFA U-15 Girls Regional Colts Leagues.

The GFA officially launched the maiden edition of the FIFA U-15 Girls Regional Colts Leagues, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening the foundation of women’s football development across the country.

Implemented under FIFA’s Women’s Football Development Programme, the colourful launch ceremony brought together key stakeholders in the women’s game, including FIFA Consultant Thuba Sibanda, members of the GFA Executive Council, Regional FA chairmen, technical experts, footballers, and administrators.

Speaking at the launch, President Kurt Okraku underscored the GFA’s commitment, backed by FIFA, to ensuring the successful organisation of the league across all ten football regions.

“The Football Association, with the expert support of FIFA, will be supporting the organisation of this league across all 10 football regions. And as a start, we are offering a cash support of 80,000 Ghana Cedis to each of the RFAs.

“With gratitude to FIFA, our partners and all stakeholders, I am very, very proud to officially declare the FIFA-backed U15 Girls’ Regionals League duly and duly launched.

“If in the time past, we didn’t fix the fundamentals, if in the time past, we didn’t create the environment, the opportunity for our young girls to realise their dreams,” he said.

The event was also attended by the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association Chairman, Dr Charles Osei Anto, who doubles as Chairman of the U-15 Girls Management Committee, as well as the GFA Technical Director, Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah.

They were joined by Regional FA Chairmen and other key stakeholders, all united in their commitment to building a sustainable and progressive future for women’s football in Ghana.
