Black Stars defender Abdul Mumin Suleman is hoping Ghana’s run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is one that brings proud memories.
He said this in his speech at a dining session to celebrate his 28th birthday at the Black Stars camp base in the United States of America where the team is preparing to compete in this year’s World Cup. (Scroll down to watch video)
Mumin, who played just three league games in the 2025-2026 season for Rayo Vallecano as he recovered from a knee injury, made the cut for Carlos Queiroz’s 26 man playing squad as Ghana prepares to play against Panama, Croatia and England.
He featured in Ghana’s 1-1 draw against Wales in a pre-World Cup friendly game.
After failing to progress beyond the group stage in its past two World Cup appearances, Mumin shared his hope the 2026 edition would be different.

“It’s always an honour to be among you guys. We are here to prepare and perform and I hope that these coming weeks, we…create memories and stories that we will be proud of” Mumin said.

Mumin will be competing at the World Cup for the first time.
