Boxing legends Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr will face off later this year in a repeat of their record breaking fight in 2015.
The bout is scheduled to take place at The Sphere in Las Vegas on September 19 in a rematch of one of the biggest fights in history.
Though the bout failed to live up to expectations, Pacquiao’s loss to Mayweather in 2015 generated a little over $400 million in revenue with gate fees raking in $72 million.
The rematch announcement comes on the back of reported news of Mayweather Jr’s exhibition bout with Mike Tyson in April.
Speaking after the fight’s rematch announcement, Pacquiao shared he was looking forward to the occasion for another event with Mayweather Jr.

“Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history. The fans have waited long enough — they deserve this rematch, and it will be even bigger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix.”

“I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him” Pacquaio said.

Mayweather Jr has been engaged in exhibition fights since retiring while Pacquiao fought Mario Barrios last year after announcing his return to professional boxing; he retired in 2021.
