The Board of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has directed Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah to revoke the appointments of 17 staff members recruited into the Authority, citing breaches in due process and structural irregularities.

Per Citi Sports checks, the directive was issued after a Board retreat held in Ada, where Mr. Ampofo Ankrah was reportedly given a deadline of February 6 to annul the appointments. This marks the second time the Board has instructed the Director General to reverse the decisions.

Sources within the Authority indicate that several of the roles assigned to the newly recruited staff do not exist within the NSA’s official organisational structure and therefore cannot be regularized.

One of the cited positions is that of Chief Operations Officer (COO), which is not recognised in the Authority’s current organogram.

Further reports suggest growing tension between the Board and the Director General, with claims that Mr. Ampofo Ankrah has been reluctant to comply with the directive.

Insiders also allege that some of the newly appointed officials wield influence exceeding that of existing deputy directors, a situation said to have heightened internal friction.
