The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the dates for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with top-flight action set to return in September.

The new campaign will get underway over the weekend of September 4–7, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude over the weekend of May 28–31, 2027.

The announcement, made on Wednesday, gives clubs and stakeholders enough time to plan and prepare ahead of the new season.

Matches will predominantly be played on weekends throughout the campaign, with midweek slots reserved strictly for outstanding fixtures keeping in line with the format used in recent seasons.

The GFA has stressed its commitment to delivering a smooth and well-organised season, describing the early release of the calendar as a deliberate effort to support effective planning across the football community.

With the 2025/26 season entering its final stages, attention is already turning to what lies ahead and clubs will be looking to hit the ground running when the new campaign kicks off in four months’ time.

Division One League also confirmed for September start

The second tier won’t be far behind.
The GFA has confirmed that the 2026/27 Access Bank Division One League will kick off over the weekend of September 18–21, 2026, with opening fixtures set to take place across all three zones.

The season is expected to wrap up on May 24, 2027, covering a total of 30 match weekends, with all fixtures to be played on weekends and no midweek games on the calendar.

As always, the Division One will serve as the key route into the Premier League, with promotion spots on the line ensuring every game carries significant weight from the very first whistle.

The GFA says the early confirmation of dates across all competitions reflects its broader push for a more organised, competitive, and development-focused domestic football calendar.
