Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has insisted his side still believe they can qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, while sharply questioning the narrative around their recent struggles.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United, Rosenior was asked whether Chelsea’s hopes were fading due to their poor run of form and growing gap in the table.
The Blues have gone over six weeks without scoring a league goal, a slump that has intensified pressure on their top-four ambitions.
Chelsea’s Position
As of April 16, 2026, Chelsea sit sixth in the Premier League, four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool and seven points adrift of third-placed Manchester United.

Despite that, Rosenior pushed back firmly on suggestions that the club’s Champions League hopes are slipping away.
“Of course they still believe, of course we still believe,” he said.
Then, reacting to the question itself, he added: “Yeah, I don’t know why you would ask that question. I don’t understand why you would.”
What this means for Rosenior
The response reflected his frustration at the growing external doubt surrounding Chelsea’s season, with the manager maintaining that belief inside the camp remains strong despite the results.
Chelsea’s qualification push now faces a crucial test as they prepare to host Manchester United in a high-stakes encounter that could shape the final weeks of their campaign.
