Carlos Queiroz will announce Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 1, according to Kurt Okraku.
The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the date in a Facebook post shortly after Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Mexico in an international friendly played in Puebla on May 23.
In the post, Kurt Okraku described the Mexico game as an important opportunity for several fringe and younger players to gain valuable experience ahead of upcoming assignments.

“Objective accomplished! This event has provided significant stage exposure for the majority of our U-23 players, who will soon assemble for the Olympic qualifiers, as well as other players who had limited playing time. The World Cup squad announcement is scheduled for June 1st. Let’s maintain our collective support for our stars!!” he wrote.
The announcement comes amid growing pressure from Ghanaians for the release of the final squad, especially after several countries participating in the 2026 World Cup had already named their teams.

The defeat to Mexico has further intensified discussions over player selections, with fans and football analysts debating who deserves a place in the final squad.
The friendly also gave the technical team another opportunity to assess players on the international stage as Ghana continues preparations for the World Cup, which begins in less than three weeks.
Ghana is expected to play one more preparatory match against Wales on June 2 at the Cardiff City Stadium before departing for the tournament.
