Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, has indicated that Ghana’s provisional 28-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is unlikely to undergo any major changes unless injuries force the technical team to make adjustments.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s World Cup Central, Asante Twum said the current group of 28 players selected by head coach Carlos Queiroz will have to compete among themselves for places in the final squad for the tournament.

“It is unlikely there will be changes to the squad unless there are injuries. For now, the 28 players must fight for places in the final team,” he said.
Carlos Queiroz is expected to name his final 26-man squad for the World Cup on June 1, meaning two players from the provisional list will miss out on selection for the tournament.

Competition for places is expected to intensify in the coming days as players seek to impress the technical team ahead of the squad announcement.
Ghana will continue its preparations for the tournament with an international friendly against Wales on June 2 at Cardiff City Stadium. The match is expected to provide the coaching staff with a final opportunity to assess players before the Black Stars begin their World Cup campaign.

Ghana will be aiming for a strong showing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Group L with Panama, England, and Croatia.
