Deputy Director-General of Ghana’s National Sports Authority (NSA),Veronica Commey, has delivered a telling statement pointing out reports connected to inadequate feeding and logistics at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships as completely false.
She said this at a presser in response to allegations of food rationing at the competition by athletes particularly South African shot put athlete Aiden Smith who voiced his displeasure about getting fed one chicken bone. (Click highted text to read full story)
Furthermore, Veronica Commey denied that athletes competing in the pole vault event who had their vaults snap while competing in the discipline were handed the vaults by the organisers of the competition.

“On the issue of feeding, I would like to emphasize that the earlier reports from the athletes on the rationing of food has been independently verified to be false”.

“It has come to the attention of the LOC a reportage reporting that the vaults that snapped during the pole vault event was provided by the organisers. I would like to categorically and firmly state that that narrative is completely false. All vaults being used at the Championships are owned by the individual athletes.”
