The competition is running from May 12 to May 17 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra and a handful of athletes including South Africa’s Aiden Smith complained about food rationing for athletes competing in the event.
Addressing the issue in an interaction with reporters, Veronica Commey stated that efforts were being made to sort out the issue.
“It is not acceptable. Personally I was taken a little aback, I think for us as organisers but we do know that there will be complains.”

“What we have done is to step up to see how we can change some of that narrative because I go the dome myself, we are always there. There is a lot of food so we don’t know where that came from. It is something that I want to give you the assurance that we are working on” Veronica Commey said.
🎥 “We have put measures in place to ensure it does not happen again, so kindly accept my apologies.”
