World No. 1 Jannik Sinner suffered a stunning second-round exit at Roland Garros after squandering a two-set lead to lose to Juan Manuel Cerúndolo in a five-set thriller.
Sinner appeared to be cruising toward another victory after dominating the opening two sets and taking a 5-1 lead in the third set while serving for the match.

However, the intense heat in Paris appeared to affect the Italian star, who began struggling physically and showed signs of cramping as the match progressed.

During the third set, Sinner stopped play for a lengthy discussion with the umpire before leaving the court for medical treatment while trailing 0-40 in his service game.
Cerúndolo capitalised on the momentum shift, winning the final six games of the third set before dominating the fourth and fifth sets to complete a remarkable comeback victory of 3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1.

The defeat ends Sinner’s impressive 30-match winning streak, which included clay court Masters titles in Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome.

With Carlos Alcaraz absent from the tournament, Sinner had been widely tipped as a favourite to secure his first Roland Garros title.
