The drama surrounding Jeremy Doku’s exit from the Belgian National Men’s Football Team’s camp to witness the birth of his first child looks set for an end as the winger is scheduled to rejoin the team.
Doku is set to rejoin his teammates on Tuesday, June 23 as the team prepares to compete in its final group phase game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup against New Zealand.
Despite still having remnants of Belgium’s Golden Generation including Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois and an exciting group of talented young players including Charles de Ketelaere, the Red Devils have struggled to meet expectations.
Two games into their campaign, Belgium have recorded a goalless draw against Iran and a 1-1 draw against Egypt and need a win over New Zealand on Friday, June 26 to qualify to the next round but with Doku available for selection.

“As he had already been receiving the appropriate medical treatment for several days, he was able to fly without any medical risk to be with his family during this very special moment. Mother, father, and baby are all doing wonderfully” Belgium’s team doctor Brahim Hacene said.
