Following the conclusion of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup group phase game against England, Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has paced all players competing in the tournament in defensive pressures applied to the opposing team.
At the time of writing, the former Leicester City player leads the entire tournament with 204 defensive pressures according to statistical platform Opta.
Two games into the Black Stars campaign in the competition, Jordan Ayew registered 83 defensive pressures in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Panama in 87 minutes of play and topped it up by registering 121 defensive pressures in Ghana’s goalless draw against England in just 67 minutes of game time.
Despite this impressive statistical line for a forward, the veteran player continues to divide opinions sharply for a Ghana team that is strong in attacking transition moments.

Ghana take on Croatia on Saturday, June 27 and Jordan Ayew is line to compete in the crucial contest as both nations attempt to qualify to the round of 32 stage.
