Turkey and Haiti have become the first teams officially eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing their opening two group matches.
Turkey’s exit was confirmed after a 1-0 defeat to Paraguay in Group D on Thursday. Matías Galarza scored in the second minute to secure Paraguay’s first win of the tournament.

The result left Turkey at the bottom of the group with no points, following their 2-0 loss to Australia in the opening match.
In Group C, Haiti were eliminated after a 3-0 defeat to Brazil. Matheus Cunha scored twice, and Vinícius Júnior added a third as Brazil claimed their first win of the tournament.

Haiti had also lost 1-0 to Scotland in their opening game and remained without a point after two matches.
The Caribbean nation is making only its second World Cup appearance and its first since 1974. After a memorable qualification campaign, Haiti’s return to the global stage will end in the group phase.
Both teams have one group match remaining before their World Cup campaigns come to an end.
