The Government of Ghana says it has distributed 948 tickets to Ghanaians and Black Stars supporters in Canada and the United States ahead of Ghana’s opening match against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The announcement comes days after some Ghanaian supporters in Canada expressed frustration over difficulties in obtaining what had been described as free tickets for the match, raising concerns about the distribution process.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the government said the tickets for the Group L clash were distributed through the Ghana High Commission, recognised supporter groups in Canada, and other stakeholder channels.
The ministry said the process was aimed at ensuring supporters had access to tickets while maintaining an orderly distribution system throughout the tournament.
The government also urged Ghanaians across the world to rally behind the Black Stars as they seek a positive result against Panama.
This comes as Ghana begins its quest for success at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with supporters expected to provide strong backing from the stands in Canada.
