Donald Trump made history in the wee hours of Tuesday, June 9 as he became the first sitting US President to attend an NBA Finals Game and the controversial political figure left his mark on this year’s NBA Finals Series after getting soundly booed by the hyped crowd that packed out the Madison Square Garden.
Trump, who sat in a suite with members of his family and top dignitaries behind a protective glass as part of enhanced security measures at the venue, was captured on the jumbotron sparking boos from the pro Knicks crowd when the national anthem was being played.
Game 3 of the best of seven game series had San Antonio Spurs clinch a 115-111 win over the New York Knicks to trail 2-1 in the series. Spurs star Victor Wembanyama fronted San Antonio’s win by registering 32 points and eight rebounds. The cheapest ticket for Game 3 was pegged at $10,622 per Kobeissi Letter.
Reacting to the boos, President Trump said to reporters before boarding Air Force One,

“I thought it was very good, it was certainly amazing, It was, I think, mostly cheers. It was loud and it was very enthusiastic. The game was fantastic. Well played by both teams. We all had a lot of fun and it was great to watch. Very talented players.”

Game 4 will take place on Thursday, June 11 at Madison Square Garden.
