Black Stars defender Jerome Opoku has called for Ghana to be more threatening in attack than it showed in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He said this after Ghana crashed out of the competition at the round of 32 stage after losing 1-0 to Colombia with the winning goal coming in the 14th minute through Jhon Arias.
Competing in his first World Cup, Jerome Opoku delivered another top performance for Ghana and shared his frustrations over Ghana’s blunt attack in a post-game interview with Sporty TV by stating that,
“We can defend, defend but if we don’t get that one goal to relieve pressure off the defense, then it’s not possible [to win]. You just need that one goal to relieve the pressure.”

“I am not a coach so I will leave that to the coaches. I’m just trying to do my job, we are a team, we stick together” Opoku said.

Ghana missed out on the opportunity to play Switzerland in the round of 16 as a result of the loss.
