Ghana defender Gideon Mensah has described the Black Stars loss to Colombia en route to exiting the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one that is hard to take.
He made this comment after Ghana lost 1-0 to Colombia at the round of 32 stage to crash out of the tournament in a closely contested game that took place in Kansas City.
Ghana conceded what turned out to be the game’s only goal in the 14th minute via a Jhon Arias header just a minute after right back Marvin Senaya was forced off the field with an apparent hamstring injury and was replaced by Alidu Seidu.
Gideon Mensah delivered another solid performance in Ghana’s left back position but ended up on the losing side and shared his disappointment about the result.
“Coming into this game, we had so much belief that we were going to do something…it’s a very hard defeat to take. They dominated the game since the beginning.”

“The time that we got into the game was a bit too late because we were down 1-0. I think the part that was killing us was that we gave them the chance to play from the beginning” Gideon Mensah said in a post-game presser.
