The South African head coach’s appointment comes prior to the commencement of the Ghana Premier League in September.
Tinkler walks into the Kotoko head coaching role with a very rich level of experience after coaching clubs in South Africa’s elite club football division including Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, Cape Town FC and Maritzburg United.
He has a CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup silver medal respectively during his time at Orlando Pirates and Supersport United.

As a player, the 55 year old won the 1996 AFCON with South Africa and captained the Bafana Bafana at the 2002 AFCON and featured at the 1998 FIFA World Cup with the Rainbow Nation.

In his first address after the appointment, Tinkler spoke about his expectations for the club that finished disappointingly in eighth place last season.

“I am honoured and excited to join one of Africa’s most storied football institutions. I feel proud to be associated with this great club at this historical moment” a section of his statement read.
