New Asante Kotoko striker, George Abege, says he is well aware of the expectations that fans and followers of the team have of him ahead of the coming season and he is ready to perform well for the club.

The Ugandan forward joined Kotoko on Saturday from Kenyan side, Kariobangi Sharks, on a three-year deal and he has been registered for Kotoko’s upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.

Abege says he knows what the fans want and he has what it takes to make the team’s fans happy.

“It is a big challenge and as always, as a player, you dream of taking big steps and I think this is one of these steps in my career. I think it comes with a huge challenge and it is up to me to meet the expectations of the fans and I know they are expecting a lot from my side.

On my part, I believe in my ability, my hard work and my determination. I think I am in the right hands becasue with good cooperation from my team mates and the technical bench, we will be able to achieve our targets and make the fans happy.”

Kotoko is said to have spotted Abege during last season’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign that saw them face Kariobangi Sharks in the preliminary rounds and they were struck by the player’s quality.

Abege thanked the team for their belief in his capabilities and the decision to bring him to Ghana.

“I want to thank Kotoko for the opportunity and for trusting in me. I chose to come here because of the foundation, philosophy, fan base and facilities of the team. I was impressed by those things and it was not a hard decision when they approached me.”
