The 2019/20 season in Europe’s top leagues has been particularly trying for Ghanaian players.

Despite some great performances from some players, generally, success has been limited for the nation’s exports.

It’s the area of goalscoring, in particular, that the stats don’t look very good. However, some Ghanaian players appear to have perfected the art of goalscoring.

Well, not so much perfected as got the knack of knocking them in when it counts.

The Ayews are not exactly tearing things up in England but this season has been momentous for them in terms of goals.

With 12 goals in the Championship, Andre is Ghana’s best poacher in Europe. His brother, Jordan is also having a great season at Crystal Palace, with eight goals so far.

Over in Spain, Thomas Partey has two goals while Karim Salisu has scored once.

With the various leagues across Europe curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic, let’s look at Ghana’s best goalscorers so far.

Here’s a list of Ghanaian goalscorers in Europe’s top five leagues (and the Championship) so far this season

  1. Andre Ayew (Championship – Swansea) 35 matches – 12 goals
  2. Jordan Ayew (Premier League – Crystal Palace) 28 matches – 8 goals
  3. Kevin-Prince Boateng (Serie A – Fiorentina/Besiktas) 20 matches – 3 goals
  4. Abdul Majeed Waris (Ligue 1 – Strasbourg) 7 matches – 2 goals
  5. Jeff Schlupp (Premier League – Crystal Palace) 14 matches  –  2 goals
  6. Issah Abass (Eredivisie – Utrecht) 15 matches – 2 goals
  7. Albert Adomah (Championship – Middlesbrough) 22 matches – 2 goals
  8. Thomas Partey (La Liga – Atletico Madrid) 24 matches – 2 goals
  9. John Boye (Ligue 1 – Metz) 24 matches – 2 goals
  10. Kasim Nuhu (Bundesliga – Fortuna Dusseldorf) 12 matches – 1 goal
  11. Alfred Duncan (Serie A – Sassuolo/Fiorentina) – 18 matches – 1 goal
  12. Andy Yiadom (Championship – Reading) 24 matches – 1 goal
  13. Christopher Antwi-Adjei (Bundesliga – Paderborn) 25 matches – 1 goal
