“I left Olympics after some fans abused me physically”- Prince George Koffie

Former Great Olympics head coach, Prince George Koffie, had opened the lid on why he quit his post at the club earlier this month.

Koffie’s resignation was announced on February 7 by the club and they confirmed the news receiving the coach’s notice of departure.

Koffie decided to quit after Olympics’ 1-0 home loss to WAFA in Week 7 of the Ghana Premier League.

In an interview with TV3, Koffie revealed that some of the team attacked him after the said match and that was when he decided to walk away.

“After the match against WAFA, a section of the fans were not happy and they expressed their reservations through utterances.

One of them attacked me and he assaulted me physically. Even when the team was winning matches, some fans were not happy with how things were being done and so, they made some submissions that I believed were negative.

Some experienced players were not being used in matches due to injuries and I expected the fans to come to me or the management for answers but they did not not do that. They rather made some utterances and I felt that was unfair.”

Koffi’s tenure at the club saw him record 2 wins, a draw and 4 losses.

Annor Walker has been put in charge of the club and his first assignment was the MTN FA Cup Round of 64 victory over Mighty Jets. Olympics won that match 2-0 to make it to the Round of 32.

Olympics travel to Medeama in Week 12 of the Ghana Premier League.
