The UEFA Europa League Round of 16 stage games is set following the conclusion of the draw.

Three Ghanaians, Thomas Partey of Arsenal, Fatawu Issahaku of Sporting Lisbon and Kwabena Owusu of Ferencvaros, are in line to compete in the upcoming games for places in the quarterfinals.

Partey and Issahaku played for Ghana’s Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and their teams have been drawn against each other in the Round of 16 stage.

English Premier League leader Arsenal take on Sporting Lisbon in Portugal on Thursday, March 9 and the second leg kicks off on Thursday, March 16 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal qualified automatically from the group stage after topping Group A while Sporting beat Danish side FC Midtylland 5-1 on aggregate in the playoffs.

Issahaku didn’t feature in the two legs over Midjtylland but played twice in Sporting’s Champions League campaign prior to the team’s drop into the Europa League.
