Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) President Ato Van-Ess says the federation and its stakeholders have decided to wake up and not to sleep anymore.
He said this after Ghana hosted the FIBA Africa Zone 3 qualifiers at the Eden Heights Sports Complex.
Ghana missed out on qualifying to the African Championship in Tunisia but the GBBA President believes hosting the qualifiers is a strong way to show the federation isn’t sleeping.
“FIBA is also now seeing that we are not just sleeping we are working harder. Previously we all slept but now we’ve decided that we won’t sleep anymore.
We want to make a point that we cannot always wait and expect government to push us. First of all let’s push ourselves and if we are worth it, government with its limited resources will also give us the attention.”
He said this in the presence of Greater Accra Regional Basketball Association Chairman Ayitey Bulley in the aftermath of the qualifiers that had Ghana miss out on qualification to the African Championship that is set to be held in Tunisia.
