WAFU B Qualifiers: Ampem Darkoa progress to semi-finals after win over Athletico FC

Ampem Darkoa Ladies, have reached the semi-final of the ongoing WAFU B Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, after beating Athletico FC 3-1 in their final group game on Friday.

The results sees Ampem Darkoa finish on top of Group B with 6 points from two games, scoring 7 goals.

Mary Amponsah opened the scoring early for Ampem Darkoa in the 2nd minute, before scoring her second of the night in the 15th minute. She then added her third of the game in the 28th minute, to give the team a 3-0 lead before the break.

This is her seventh goal of the tournament and her 2nd hat-trick.

The Ghana Premier League Champions returned from the break, looking to increase their lead but were unable to find the back of the net.

Athletico FC only managed to get a consolation goal late in the game in the 83rd minute.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies will now face the 2nd placed team in Group A in the semi-final.
