Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku says the late Raphael Dwamena had the right to keep playing football despite medical concerns.

He said this when responding to questions over Dwamena’s decision to continue playing professional football despite being diagnosed with a heart condition that curtailed his career’s progress.

The GFA President made this point during Dwamena’s funeral that was held at the Adjirigano Astro Turf in Legon after the Levante striker passed away on November 11 while playing for Albania league side Egnatia.

Dwamena had collapsed while playing due to the heart condition and the same ailment killed off two transfer moves including one to English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, the GFA President is adamant that the former Black Stars striker had the right to decide what worked best for him.

“This is a very dangerous line to thread on. He was above 18 years, so he took his decisions and I think that everybody on earth has the right to take their own decisions and stay with that.”

Dwamena also played for Real Zaragoza and FC Zurich in his career.
