Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Constituency who doubles as a member of a Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Sam George, has rebuffed Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Director General, Professor Amin Alhassan’s claim that GBC received $105,000 to cover the 13th African Games out of a purported payment in excess of $3 million as claimed by Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif.

The Member of Ghana’s Parliament indicated that he doesn’t believe Professor Alhassan’s claim and also alleged that GBC staff were poorly treated while covering the African Games in contrast to foreign staff who were contracted by the same media organization. In an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Sam George, voiced his displeasure over the handling of contractual issues stating that,

“Professor Amin Alhassan cannot claim GBC was only entitled to $105,000 when a contract between the GBC, entered into by him on behalf of GBC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports says that they were entitled to $3.6 million. So Amin Alhassan cannot make that claim and expect that we take it hook, line and sinker.”

“This thing is a twin pregnancy. The issues between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and GBC and then the treatment of the GBC staff by management…there are issues that we will interrogate” Sam George added.
