Ghana midfielder Abdul Salis Samed has stated that his motivation to join EFL Championship side AFC Sunderland was down to “progression”.
He said this in his maiden interview with the Black Cats after completing his one year loan move from French Ligue 1 side RC Lens.
Samed becomes the fifth Ghana player to join Sunderland after Antoine Semenyo, John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari and Samed highlighted Gyan’s connection to the club. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Speaking on the reason behind his move, Samed pointed to progression in his football career after a stalled period in his recent run with Lens.
“I’m very happy to be here – I spoke with the Head Coach about the project and how the supporters love the Club, so it seemed like a good place for me to progress.”
“I know the Head Coach well from his time at Lorient, and his best friend was my coach at RC Lens, so they had some discussions about me. I’m a competitor and I love the competition for places.”
