President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo has sacked National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General Dodzie Numekevor Citi Sports can confirm. Dodzie Numekevor’s appointment was confirmed in March, 2024 as he replaced Professor Peter Twumasi.

The NSA Director-General’s dismissal comes on the heels of Ghana’s last Category 3 football venue’s withdrawal of approval by Africa’s football governing body, CAF.

CAF withdrew its approval for the Baba Yara Stadium to host international games due to a series of issues connected to poor amenities at the facility.

Aside the terrible pitch that has attracted a ton of criticisms, issues concerning media centre, floodlight intensity, changing rooms and public announcement systems have been identified over the years leading to the ban.

CAF’s decision means that Ghana is in line to host Sudan in a 2025 AFCON qualifier in October in either Cote D’Ivoire or Togo. President of CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has since criticized Ghana for this failure. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
