Ghana Athletics President Bawah Fuseini has been named the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Leader of the Year for 2024.
This esteemed award recognizes his exceptional leadership and organizational excellence during the 13th All-Africa Games, held in Ghana in March 2024.
Since assuming the presidency of Ghana Athletics in August 2023, Mr. Fuseini has played a crucial role in raising the bar for athletics in Ghana, earning widespread praise from across the continent.
In its announcement, the CAA commended the remarkable success of the athletics events at the Games.
“In March 2024, Ghana hosted the 13th All-Africa Games. It was unanimously agreed that the athletics competitions were the highlight of the Games, excelling in both organizational quality and public enthusiasm in the Ghanaian capital,” the statement read.
“The packed stadium and electrifying atmosphere rivaled major international sporting events. The Confederation of African Athletics has awarded President Bawah Fuseini the title of Best Leader of the Year 2024, acknowledging his significant contributions to this success.”
Under Fuseini’s leadership, Ghana Athletics has achieved notable international recognition.
His efforts to secure hosting rights for the 24th African Athletics Championships in 2026 further illustrate his commitment to establishing Ghana as a premier hub for athletics on the continent.
